Implementation of a Grid-Enabled Component Browser for URV Final Project Report for Masters Project

چکیده

The primary challenge of grid computing is to enable, maintain, and control the sharing of distributed heterogeneous resources to achieve a common goal. To address this challenge, grid applications should be structured to accommodate the heterogeneous nature of the grid. This project presents a software tool that provides basic services for handling components in the grid domain. The basic operations include: (1) component discovery (2) component registry, and (3) component instantiation. In addition, a metadata service of browser enables manipulation of XML-based descriptor that describes components. GCB is implemented with collaboration of Java, LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol), and XML technologies. We successfully demonstrated its effectiveness in component integration. Our browser could serve as a template for the development of component software such as URV framework.
